Steve Bannon, suffering the repercussions from badmouthing President Donald Trump and his son-in-law, is leaving Breitbart, the right-wing media outlet announced Tuesday.

The departure of Bannon, former counselor the president, follows criticism from the Mercer family, major funders of the Trump campaign and investors in Breitbart, the New York Times reports.

In the recently released book “Fire and Fury,” by Michael Wolff, Bannon was quoted as saying the meeting of Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, with a Russian lawyer was “treasonous.”

Bannon had resumed his role as chairman of Breitbart last August, after leaving the White House.
