Exxon Mobil is a client of consulting firm RiceHadleyGates.

Condoleezza Rice, a principal of the firm, recommended Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson to be secretary of state, the post she held from 2005 to 2009.

Former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, another principal of the firm, also recommended Tillerson for the job.
