Donald Trump announced some of his foreign policy and national security advisers on Monday, revealing a Blackwater connection.
One of the advisers he listed was Joseph Schmitz, a former Pentagon inspector general who later worked as COO and general counsel of the Prince Group.
Erik D. Prince, founder of the Prince Group, also launched Blackwater, an international security company. Four former employees of the company were sentenced last year to prison terms for the 2007 fatal shootings of 14 civilians in Iraq.
Schmitz, who also worked as special assistant to former Atty. Gen. Edwin Meese and as a managing director of former FBI Director Louis Freeh’s Freeh Group International, is the son of the late Congressman John G. Schmitz, R-CA.
