Power brothers

By Laurie Bennett

Influence often runs in families. And those families often travel in the same circles.

Our list of the top 10 pairs of power brothers draws from many spheres - politics, business, entertainment and nonprofit. Yet by placing the White House at the center, we were able to connect them all in a single map.

Here are the bros, in alphabetical order:

BEAU BIDEN & HUNTER BIDEN
The sons of the veep have their fingers in quite a few pies. Hunter Biden recently took a job with ith the Ukrainian gas company Burisma. Beau announced last month that he would not seek re-election as Delaware attorney general because he’s running for governor in 2016.
JEB BUSH & GEORGE W. BUSH
It remains to be seen whether Jeb will make the Bush dynasty the first to boast three presidents. Is he willing? As he told Grove City College grads last week, “If you feel inspired to serve your fellow citizens, don’t let the ugliness of politics keep you from pursuing public office.”
RICHARD M. DALEY & WILLIAM M. DALEY
While their most influential days are probably behind them, the Daley brothers are still Chicago aristocracy.
RAHM EMANUEL & ARI EMANUEL
The Chicago mayor and the Hollywood agent. And brother Zeke, the physician, is no slouch, either.
CHARLES KOCH & DAVID KOCH
Just ask Harry Reid.
RONALD LAUDER & LEONARD LAUDER
Leonard is chairman emeritus of Estee Lauder and the Whitney Museum. Ronald is president of the World Jewish Congress.
JOHN PODESTA & TONY PODESTA
John, founder of the Center for American Progress, is now advising the White House. Tony is lobbying the White House and the rest of Washington.
ANDREW TISCH & JAMES TISCH
The brothers share leadership of Loews Corporation.
JIM WALTON & ROB WALTON
The statistics vary, but the Walton siblings’ wealth exceeds that of a whole lotta Americans combined.
HARVEY WEINSTEIN & ROBERT WEINSTEIN
Twenty years ago, the brothers sold Miramax to Walt Disney. Their current studio, Weinstein Company, recently signed a production and distribution deal with their former company.
