Key Obama backers donate to Organizing for Action

By Laurie Bennett

Organizing for Action, the successor nonprofit to the 2012 Obama campaign, raked in another $8.2 million last quarter.

Much of that, as the Muckety map below shows, came from Obama bundlers and big contributors to Priorities USA, the main super PAC supporting the president’s re-election.

The group has broken with some of the practices used by similar organizations on the right, by reporting donors who give more than $250 and rejecting corporate contributions.

That’s not to say it hasn’t tapped some extremely wealthy supporters.

Financer Fred Eychaner and hedge funder David E. Shaw each gave $500,000. Both were fundraisers in the last election.

Another big donor was Amy P. Goldman, daughter of the late real estate investor Sol Goldman, who once co-owned the Chrysler Building. Goldman, a backer of Priorities USA, gave $250,000 to Organizing for Action.
