Barbara Walters, 83, is retiring.
Over six decades in the business, Walters has made so many connections we can’t fit them easily into a single map.
Her impressive network began even before her career, as the daughter of Broadway producer Louis Walters. It expanded rapidly after she became the “Today Girl” on NBC’s “Today Show,” and hasn’t stopped growing since.
Muckety this! maps typically show an unlikely path between two people. Walters, however, presented too many possibilities. So we show her connections to four:
1.) She dated former Sen. John Warner, who was married to Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor.
2.) She dated Council of Economic Advisers Chairman Alan Greenspan, who is now married to MSNBC journalist Andrea Mitchell. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg presided at the Greenspan-Mitchell nuptials.
3.) She was married to TV exec Merv Adelson, a friend of Benjamin Netanyahu, prime minister of Israel.
4.) She is a second cousin of Nancy Shevell, wife of Paul McCartney.
