Think tank thought-o-meter

In the think tank world, there is independent, inspired, even courageous, thought. And then there’s self-serving spin.

Thought-o-Meter

A recent post by Lee Edwards of the Heritage Foundation may set a new low on the spin cycle.

His pick for “the most consequential conservative of the past four decades?” Ed Feulner, outgoing president of … the Heritage Foundation.

Feulner leaves office next week. His successor is former Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC).

Any bets on whether DeMint, opponent of gay teachers, a National Women’s History Museum, and online discussion of abortion, will be selected as the most influential conservative years from now?

If so, we may have to recalibrate our thought-o-meter.
