Brookings and State

No matter who the nominee is for State Department, the Brookings Institution is likely to have skin in the game.

Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of secretary nominee John F. Kerry, is an honorary trustee of the think tank. One of the philanthropies she oversees, the Heinz Endowments, has made several contributions to the organization’s Metropolitan Policy Program.

Susan Rice, who withdrew her name from consideration, is a former senior fellow. Her mother, Lois Dickson Fitt, was a guest scholar at Brookings.
