Boehner’s fiscal-cliff support group

House Speaker John Boehner may be negotiating with President Barack Obama one-to-one, but he’s relying on a small circle of influence to avoid the fiscal cliff.

As Roll Call reports, Boehner is meeting regularly with his leadership team and three powerful committee chairs.

Members of this group include:

Inclusion of the chairmen broadens the base for a potential agreement. Ryan brings a large conservative bloc. Camp’s committee oversees taxes and Medicare and Upton has jurisdiction over other entitlement spending.
