Philadelphia law firm Pepper Hamilton has acquired two firms started by former FBI director Louis Freeh.

In a deal announced Tuesday, Freeh’s law firm, Freeh Sullivan Sporkin, will be merged into Pepper Hamilton. His investigations company, Freeh Group International Solutions, will continue to operate under its own name as a Pepper subsidiary.

Since leaving the FBI in 2001, Freeh has found an opportunity in public scandal. He became a trustee for MF Global after the company’s collapse and also investigated the sex-abuse scandal at Penn State.
