Arab Spring reaches K Street

You can read a lot from a nation’s U.S. lobby efforts.

As the Sunlight Foundation points out, international lobbying is a sign of stability - an investment in future relations and foreign aid.

The Arab Spring has wreaked significant changes on this front. Egypt, Tunisia and Libya have terminated lobbying and public relations contracts in recent months.

In January, the PLM Group announced that it was no longer representing Egypt.

PLM - a partnership of Podesta Group, the Livingston Group and the Moffett Group — said it was ending the relationship after four years of representing the nation in Washington. (The Egyptian government later responded that it had terminated the contract, not the other way around.)

The Muckety map above shows firms that have dropped Egypt from their client lists.
