Private equity loves Mitt Romney

Mike Allen of Politico reports that the trade group for private equity companies has launched a PR campaign to polish the industry’s image.

Launch of the campaign, by the Private Equity Growth Capital Council, is tied to Mitt Romney’s surge in the GOP presidential campaign. The higher his profile, the more scrutiny his financial background - and the private equity sector - will likely receive.

It shouldn’t come as a big surprise that many of the executives of the group’s member companies are also donors to the super PAC supporting Romney.

Our Muckety map above shows nine execs who have contributed to Restore Our Future.

Two - Rodger Krouse and Marc Leder of Sun Capital - co-chaired Romney’s Florida finance team.

For more info about the ad campaign, see the Private Equity at Work web site.
