Adman Fred Davis III strikes again

By Laurie Bennett

The inimitable Fred Davis III has produced yet another political ad that draws as much attention to himself as to the candidate.

If the tactic were successful, this might make some sense.

But two of Davis’s more recent efforts were Christine O’Donnell’s “I am not a witch” spot and Carly Fiorina’s “demon sheep” ad. While they were (and remain) immensely entertaining, both candidates lost.

As a consultant to the 2008 McCain campaign, Davis also produced the Barack Obama celebrity ad.

This time, Davis combats Jon Huntsman’s bland image by showing him in an Evel Knievel outfit, riding his motocross bike through the dirt.

This may all be an effort to get the video embedded on as many web sites as possible, and we’re not going to disappoint.

But we have to add this note: For another insight into how media-savvy the Huntsman campaign is, try finding the campaign web site on Google.
