Goldman Sachs engaged in a bit of director swapping Thursday, adding Barnard College President Debora L. Spar to its board.
Laura Blankfein, wife of Goldman Chairman and CEO Lloyd Blankfein, is a graduate of Barnard sat on its board of trustees.
Bloomberg reports that she has stepped down from the position.
Spar becomes one of just two women on the Goldman board. Lois D. Juliber, former vice chair of Colgate-Palmolive Company, is the other.
A board seat with the company is a plum appointment, carrying minimum stock awards last year of $478,284.
As we’ve noted before, Ivy League college presidents are in high demand for corporate boards. Barnard is an affiliate of Columbia University whose president, Lee Bollinger, is a director of the Washington Post Co. and chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
