The bright stars of the Foer family constellation

Maureen Dowd writes about Joshua Foer’s new book, Moonwalking With Einstein: The Art and Science of Remembering Everything, No. 2 on Amazon’s best-seller list.

As she notes, Foer comes from a family whose intelligence and ambition rival the Emanuel clan.

He’s the youngest of the three sons of Albert and Esther Foer.

The eldest son is Franklin Foer, former editor of The New Republic. (He now serves as editor-at-large.)

The middle son, Jonathan Safran Foer, is the author of two moving novels, Everything Is Illuminated and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

He’s married to Nicole Krauss, who wrote The History of Love.

When Joshua Foer landed his $1.25 million book deal in 2006, the New York Observer declared the establishment of a “Foerocracy.”

The family is invariably described as tight-knit. Esther Foer is the founder of a public relations firm and Bert Foer is a lawyer who established a think tank called the American Antitrust Institute.
