California venture capitalist William Draper III is the patriarch of a family with many talents.
His father, the late William Draper Jr., was also a venture capitalist, founding Draper, Gaither and Anderson after stints as under secretary of the Army and U.S. ambassador to NATO.

He worked with his father before founding Sutter Hill Ventures, a Palo Alto company known for its investments in Silicon Valley tech startups.
He left the firm in 1981 to chair the U.S. Export-Import Bank and later headed the United Nations Development program. He’s now a general parter of two venture companies - Draper Richards and Draper International.
His son Timothy has also taken up the family trade, founding the venture firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson, with investments in such tech companies as Skype, Hotmail and Overture.
Bill Draper’s daughter, Polly, is an actress, best known for her role as Ellyn on thirtysomething.
She created the Nickelodeon series The Naked Brothers Band, which starred her two sons, Nat and Alex Wolff, as well as her husband, Michael Wolff. Brother Tim Draper also appeared, as Principal Schmoke.
