Bryan Rafanelli planning Chelsea Clinton wedding

Her parents know all about leaks to the media, so Chelsea Clinton shouldn’t be surprised that some of the details about her upcoming wedding have surfaced.

Not naming sources, New York magazine reports that Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky, an investment banker whom she has known since they were teenagers, are going to be married somewhere in New York state on July 31.

Bryan Rafanelli, a Boston wedding planner to political and corporate stars, will orchestrate the affair.

The guest list will be held to 400 people, all of whom Chelsea Clinton must know.

And guests won’t be told the wedding location – said to be within a three-hour drive of New York City – until a week before, New York reports.

Rafanelli, who owns Rafanelli Events with his life partner Mark E. Walsh, coordinated some events for the 2008 Hillary Rodham Clinton campaign. In addition, he raised more than $100,000 in contributions.

Walsh, a lawyer, also supported the then senator from New York, serving as the national director of LGBT outreach for Clinton’s presidential campaign.

Rafanelli, 47, got his start as an events planner volunteering for Boston’s AIDS Action Committee when he was 22.

“I started chairing events, and then I started running the (events) committee, and today I have a business,” he said in a story in Bay Windows, a Boston area GLBT newspaper.

In 2009, Rafanelli coordinated Red Sox owner John Henry’s wedding. The ceremony was held on Henry’s yacht. A reception followed at Fenway Park.

Rafanelli has also orchestrated a variety of fund-raising galas for Boston area nonprofits, including MassGeneral Hospital for Children.

This summer, in addition to the Chelsea Clinton nuptials, Rafanelli is putting together the August wedding of Huma Abedin, an aide to Hillary Clinton and Rep. Anthony Weiner, a New York Democrat.

According to New York, Hillary and Bill Clinton are having a party for Abedin and Weiner on June 29 in Washington.
