It may be the world’s most connected graveyard.
Forest Lawn Memorial-Park, where the family of Michael Jackson held a private ceremony this morning, is cemetery to the stars and a favorite California tourist destination.
Some of the celebrities buried at the park - including Sammy Davis Jr., Humphrey Bogart and Jean Harlow - are in areas not available to the public. Other entertainment giants buried here include Walt Disney, Liberace, Clark Gable and wife Carole Lombard, George Burns, Nat King Cole and Bette Davis.
Forest Lawn has also been a venue for the living. Ronald Reagan and Jane Wyman were married here, as were Regis and Joy Philbin.
Jackson’s body was to be taken this morning to the Staples Center in Los Angeles, for a ceremony featuring Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Jennifer Hudson and other performers.
The site of his grave hasn’t yet been made public.
Forest Lawn maintains six locations in southern California. The two most popular sites among the glitterati are in Hollywood Hills and Glendale.
