There were conflicting reports about whether Alex Rodriguez, the Yankees’ third baseman, would have surgery to remove a cyst on his right hip. Surgery would require 10 weeks of rehabilitation, according to ESPN, but the team released a statement saying that more conservative treatments would be tried first.
