Steven Rattner, a former New York Times reporter and co-founder of private-equity firm Quadrangle, is joining the Treasury Department as a counselor to Secretary Timothy Geithner. Rattner will lead the group advising Geithner on the auto industry, reports the Wall Street Journal.
