When Carrie Fisher’s teenaged daughter began flirting with Elizabeth Taylor’s grandson, Fisher decided it was time to chart family relationships.
The result? Her daughter and Taylor’s grandson are related only “by scandal.”
Fisher was a toddler when her father, Eddie Fisher, left her mother, Debbie Reynolds, for Elizabeth Taylor. She likens the situation to an earlier-generation version of Brad Pitt abandoning Jennifer Aniston for Angelina Jolie.
Even today, the Fishers and the Taylors are among the most connected people in Hollywood.
Elizabeth Taylor is a social-networking dynamo, having been married eight times to seven husbands. (She and Richard Burton married twice.)
For Fisher, also known as Princess Leia of Star Wars and the ex-wife of musician Paul Simon, the family tree has become a revenue stream. Her memoir Wishful Drinking is a book, stage show and the basis for uncounted speaking engagements.
Above, is the Muckety version of Fisher’s family relationship chart, which she dubs “Hollywood 101.”
