Raoul Weil, a top executive of Swiss bank UBS AG has been charged with conspiring to help wealthy American clients hide $20 billion of assets from U.S. tax authorities.

A collection of paintings owned by former Lehman boss Richard Fuld and his wife, Kathy, and said to be worth $20 million, goes on the block tonight at Christie’s.

President-elect Barack Obama is likely to seek a quick closure of the Guantanamo Bay prison, despite a thicket of legal and logistical challenges, reports the Washington Post.

The full Democratic caucus of the U.S. Senate will vote next week on whether to allow Connecticut independent Joseph Lieberman to hold onto his chairmanship of the Senate homeland security committee, reports TPM’s Election Central.
