The sequel, which has yet to be named, will be co-financed by Overture Films and Paramount Vantage. Overture Films will distribute the film worldwide, while Paramount Vantage will work on US distribution.

Fahrenheit 9/11 currently holds the record for the highest grossing documentary, having made over $100 million dollars at the box office.

Moore is represented by Endeavor Agency’s Ari Emanuel, who brokered the deal between Moore, Overture and Paramount. John Lesher, who is one of Moore’s former agents at Endeavor, is now the head of Paramount Film Group.

Vantage president Nick Meyer told the Associated Press, “We don’t view this movie as bashing anyone. I think it’s going to take a look at where America is right now in relation to the world. It’s not going to be about the issue of the war. It’s about where we are and what our role is.”

Moore, who supports Obama in the 2008 election, won’t finish the film before November’s vote. Production begins immediately, but the film is not expected to be released before spring 2009.

Moore is expected at the Cannes Film Festival this week to promote his newest project and look for potential buyers.
