MoveOn.org, which is supporting Obama in the presidential race, has picked a winner in the “Obama in 30 Seconds” contest.

The challenge was to make a pro-Obama commercial that may air on national television.

Made by David Gaw and Lance Mungia, the winning clip, titled “Obamacan” features an Air Force veteran who has always voted Republican, explaining why he is voting for Obama in this year’s presidential election.

MoveOn described its vision for the commercial: “We’re NOT looking for the same old slick political ads from Washington media consultants. Instead, we’re looking for really creative ads that will engage and enlighten viewers and help them understand the grassroots energy that’s driving Barack Obama’s campaign.”

The contest was judged by many well-known musicians, actors, directors and public figures, including Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Julia Stiles, John Legend, Moby and Oliver Stone.

The judges selected the winner based on three factors: overall impact, originality, and positive message.

The winning advertisement was selected from 1100 entries and was revealed on MoveOn’s website on May 12.
