DC court disbars Scooter Libby

I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, has been disbarred from practicing law in the District of Columbia.

In a ruling posted on its web site, the DC Court of Appeals wrote, “When a member of the Bar is convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude, disbarment is mandatory.”

Libby was convicted at trial of felony counts of perjury, obstruction of justice and lying to FBI agents investigating leaks about CIA agent Valerie Plame Wilson. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison, but President Bush commuted the sentence.
