One of the biggest events this weekend for Oscar A-listers, aside from the awards ceremony itself, took place last night. The sixth annual Night Before Fundraiser raised $6 million for the Motion Picture & Television Fund.
Hosts included George Clooney, Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, Matt Damon, Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks and Reese Witherspoon.
Aside from having celebrities host its fundraisers, the Motion Picture & Television Fund also boasts a slew of entertainment business greats on its board of directors, including Michael Douglas, Nora Ephron, Barry Diller and Warren Beatty.
The fund will use the proceeds to “enrich the lives of people in our Southern California entertainment community by continuously evolving to meet their health and human services needs.”
The event is one of few Oscar parties this year, with traditional bashes such as the Vanity Fair and People magazine post-award parties cancelled during the writers strike.
