Inspired by Barack Obama’s presidential run, a group of Hollywood stars has released a music video centered on his “Yes, we can” message.
An impressive 36 celebrities came together to help will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas create the 4 1/2-minute, black-and-white video. The project adds a melody to footage of Obama’s concession speech after the New Hampshire primary, with celebrities speaking or singing along with his words. It was directed by Bob Dylan’s son, Jesse.
Featured in the video are actors Kate Walsh, Taryn Manning, Nick Cannon, Amber Valletta, and Harold Perrineau. Musicians Common, will.i.am, John Legend, Nicole Scherzinger and Herbie Hancock lend their talents. Scarlett Johansson, actress and budding recording artist, sings, too. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar also makes an appearance.

will.i.am created the video independent of Obama’s campaign, and writes on the video website about his own decision on whom to support.
He says he was unsure which candidate he would choose, “but that speech…it inspired me…it inspired me to look inside myself and outwards towards the world…it inspired me to want to change myself to better the world…and take a “leap” towards change…and hope that others become inspired to do the same…”
will.i.am certainly has passed his message, and Obama’s, on to others. The video hit the internet with gusto, getting over 2.6 million views on YouTube since it was posted on Feb. 6.
Obama’s campaign has had a surge in fundraising since Super Tuesday. While Hillary Clinton raised $7.5 million online this month, Obama raised the same amount in less than a week.
In addition to the celebs in the Yes We Can video, Obama has also been supported by Chris Rock, Usher, George Clooney and Robert DeNiro.

A spoof response to the Yes We Can video was posted on YouTube by the group Billionaires for Bush. Posted by YouTube user lessjobsmorewar, the video is titled “No, You Can’t.”
The video’s creators explain, “We made “No, You Can’t” as a part parody/part homage (or “parage,” if you will), to the original piece by will.i.am. We’re inspired by the movement that Obama has set in motion, and wanted to poke fun at the entrenched interests and cynics who’ll be pushing back harder and harder against us as our movement grows stronger.”
