While he hasn’t been nominated for any Academy Awards, Josh Brolin may be the actor most connected to the current Oscar nominees.
Brolin obviously made good choices, taking roles in three films with Oscar nominations. He appeared in No Country for Old Men, which was one of the most nominated films of the year, taking eight Academy Awards noms, including best motion picture and best director.
Brolin had a role in In the Valley of Elah, in which Tommy Lee Jones is up for best actor. He also appears opposite Denzel Washington in American Gangster, which picked up two nominations.

In addition to the Oscar connections he’s made through his acting career, Brolin is married to Acadamy Award nominee Diane Lane, nominated for best actress in 2002’s Unfaithful.
Despite his status as a background figure in 2007, Brolin may step into the spotlight with a possible upcoming role. Oliver Stone has said that Brolin would be his first pick for the lead role in his next film, which will detail the life of George W. Bush.
Stone was nominated for several Oscars for the screenwriting and directing he did for his other presidential biography films, Nixon and JFK. Stone tells Daily Variety that he wants to depict how Bush went from being “an alcoholic bum to the most powerful figure in the world.”
If Josh Brolin takes the part, he’ll be following in the footsteps of his father, James Brolin, who also played a Republican president. The elder Brolin starred as Ronald Reagan in the 2003 TV mini-series, The Reagans.
Stone is known for his liberal views, so he’ll probably work well with the Brolin family. James Brolin is married to Barbra Streisand, who has endorsed Hillary Clinton in the upcoming presidential race. James Brolin also has contributed to Democratic causes.
