Add another line to what has to be one of the greatest resumes of all time.
Al Gore is now a partner at Kleiner Perkins, the storied Silicon Valley venture capital firm that has backed such web and technology giants as Google, Sun Microsystems and Amazon.
Kleiner announced the appointment today as part of a global alliance launched by the venture firm and the Generation Investment Management fund, which Gore chairs. The alliance will fund green businesses and technology solutions to combat global warming.
Kleiner partner John Doerr will, in turn, join Generation Investment’s advisory board.
Gore said he would donate his salary from Kleiner to the Alliance for Climate Protection, the same organization to which he donated his $750,000 Nobel Peace Prize.
Doerr has shown a deep interest in environmental change as a budding business opportunity. Fortune reports that 12 of Kleiner’s 22 partners now spend some or all of their time on green investments.
