Based on the series of novels written by Cecily von Ziegesar, Gossip Girl chronicles the lives of privileged high school students living on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Though Schwartz has left California’s Orange County, the issues that made The OC a hit weave their way through the plot of Gossip Girl.
A mere seven episodes into the first season, leading ladies Blair and Serena have come to physical blows because Serena slept with Blair’s boyfriend, Nate. To retaliate, Blair decided to sleep with Nate’s best friend, Chuck. Serena’s budding romance with Dan gets complicated by the reappearance of his former flame, Vanessa. Meanwhile, Serena’s mom and Dan’s dad have been reminiscing about their former romance, while Serena’s mom is also secretly dating Chuck’s dad.
With so much sex, booze, drugs and money involved, this web weaves itself.
