There are many ways to meet one’s fate on The Island. ABC’s Losties have perished because of a man-killing smoke monster, gunshot wounds, deadly illnesses and drowning. Add another character-killer to the list: DUI.
In Hawaii, where the series is filmed, several Lost stars have been caught driving under the influence and it seems the punishment for the offense goes beyond the courthouse punishment. All actors who have been arrested in Hawaii during filming have had their characters killed off on the show.

On December 1, 2005, Michelle Rodriguez, who played Ana-Lucia, was arrested for driving under the influence. Ana-Lucia was shot and killed in the second season of Lost. TMZ reports that she will serve at least 120 days in jail for breaking her probation.
Within minutes of Rodriguez’s arrest, her co-star, Cynthia Watros, was also stopped for DUI. It seems more than coincidence that Watros’ character, Libby, is killed off in the same scene in which Ana-Lucia dies.
Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, who played Mr. Eko, was charged with of driving without a license on September 2, 2006. While he later produced his license and had the charge dropped, Mr. Eko had a fatal encounter with Lostzilla, the smoke monster, in Lost’s third season.
Today, the Honolulu Advertiser reports that another Lost cast member has been arrested. Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Jin, was pulled over for suspected DUI late last night. If we are to learn anything from the The Island, it seems Jin might need to watch his back.
The fourth season of Lost starts in February 2008.
