Tom Scott, already half of a business-world power couple, is bringing new focus on the affluent through his broadcast network, Plum TV.
Scott is a co-founder of Nantucket Nectars, the beverage company bought by Cadbury-Schweppes in 2002. His wife, Emily Scott, founded J. Crew.
So the Scotts are hardly intruders when they go to America’s most fashionable resorts. That explains, in part, why Plum TV cameras are welcome in such exclusive communities as the Hamptons, Nantucket and Aspen. The network targets the most upscale of demographics - rich people on vacation.
Investors also hark from this niche. Plum TV’s backers include musician Jimmy Buffett, Virgin Records chairman Jason Flom, Kraft Group chairman Robert Kraft and former Viacom chief Tom Freston.
