Bono still hasn’t found what he’s looking for.
The lead singer of U2 is an unhappy resident of the historic San Remo on West 74th Street in Manhattan, home to such luminaries as Steve Martin and Steven Spielberg.
The New York Times has uncovered a dispute among the building’s elite: Smoke from fireplaces in the building drifts into Bono’s penthouse.
When Bono and other residents complained, the coop board banned fires while it studied the issue. This outraged tenants such as aging rocker Billy Squier.
Other residents, including 95-year-old Mitch Miller, the former host of the TV show, “Sing Along with Mitch,” side with Bono.
“If people want fireplaces, let them go live in the country,” Miller told the Times.
